The Beginning of TV Season 2014/2015: About 100 New Projects

KVG Research, specializing in media research, announces the results of the analysis of the beginning of TV season 2014/2015. In September 2014 7 major Russian terrestrial federal TV channels (Channel One, Russia 1, NTV, CTC, TNT, St. Petersburgs TV, and REN TV) showed almost 250 premiere foreign and national premiere projects, about 100 of them were the TV seasons new items. The presentation was on the dynamic of children's content on the 7 biggest channels over several years. The report covered domestic and foreign children's content, its distribution across the channels, and the premiers' volume. Russian and foreign production companies of children's content were ranked according to total volume of broadcasting hours on the air of the analyzed channels.

KVG Research announces the results of the annual research of TV content market. In 2013, the seven major TV channels (Channel One, Russia 1, NTV, TNT, CTC, St. Petersburgs TV-Channel 5, REN TV) broadcast about 12 thousand premiere hours of the Russian content. This volume does not include information programs, news, morning infotainment programs, translations of sports events and concerts, lotteries. As in 2012, TV series and TV films took the largest share of broadcasting (33%), as well as entertainment programs and talk shows (47%).

21 adaptations of Russian formats were produced in 1H2014

KVG Research Company, which specializes in media research, announces the results of the report devoted to the export of Russian formats abroad, whose adaptations were produced and aired on foreign channels.

In 2013, 25 adaptations were produced by 8 Russian formats. The CIS (Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Moldova, Armenia and Georgia) and the Baltic countries (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia) most actively bought Russian formats to adapt.  Moreover, in 2013 new territories appeared which purchased and produced entertainment programs and TV series by Russian formats: Poland, Serbia, and Turkey. 21 Russian adaptations have been broadcast on foreign channels by June 2014.

TV channels have aimed at entertainment programs in a new TV season

The share of entertainment projects among the novelties of September rose to 20%
KVG Research, which specializes in media research, announced the results of September. In the first month of the new TV season Channel One, Russia 1, NTV, CTC, TNT, REN TV suggested to the audience 240 premiere broadcast events excluding news, sports and music broadcasts, and some other type of content.  About 100 of these national and foreign TV projects became premieres in the new TV season. Channel One and Russia 1 had the most first-run projects, with over 40% and 20% of premieres respectively. CTC and REN TV proved to be the most conservative in terms of showing new projects in September, with each channel broadcasting just 8% of premiere content.

According to data from KVG Research, 60% of Russian feature films shown on TV in 2011 were shown by Channel One and Russia 1. The Research of Feature Films Broadcast in 2011 considers the national channels (Channel One, Russia 1, NTV, TNT, CTC, and REN TV) in terms of national and foreign feature films broadcast since January 1 till December 31, 2011. Original Russian TV Formats Purchased Abroad More and More

According to data from KVG Research, the growth of adapted projects from original Russian formats amounted to 39% in 2011.

According to data collected over the five years, around 80 adaptations of original Russian programmes and TV series have been broadcast abroad. In 2011 a peak of this activity was seen: 25 adapted Russian formats were shown abroad, representing a 39% increase compared to 2010.
